Our Vision
The Vision of InterVarsity's Greek IMPACT at UNC-Chapel Hill is to see fraternity and sorority students transformed by the freeing life that Christ offers. We believe that Jesus came to offer Greek students life to the full (John 10:10) and believe that Carolina can be a place where Greeks no longer conform to the patterns of the Greek system but are transformed by the renewing of their minds (Romans 12:2). Here we believe that true life is found.
HISTORY
InterVarsity’s ministry to Greek students UNC-Chapel Hill has been taking place for more than 40 years, with varying degrees of success and activity taking place throughout the decades. In the mid-80’s more than 100 fraternity and sorority students gathered regularly for worship and outreach, and many houses had IV-resourced Bible studies. By 2000, however, there were very few Greeks involved in InterVarsity. In late 2002 Dave & Kim Shepley moved to Chapel Hill with the vision to specifically reach Greek students who were un-reached by the Christian community at large and to show them true and freeing life in Christ. The group grew from a handful of students in January 2003 to more than 70 regularly committed Greeks in January 2007. Today Greek IMPACT continues to grow and add structures that ultimately serve the vision of introducing and reconnecting Greeks at Carolina to a freeing and real life in Christ.
