A Successful Christmas Ministry

Greek IMPACT again led the Greek system in collecting shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Unfortunately some logistical issues forced the effort to be more of an internal project. The students were blessed and encouraged to be able to serve the world with shoeboxes, however, and the GI attenders contributed over $500 and 40 shoeboxes.

In addition, the student newspaper published an online article about Greek IMPACTs efforts to promote service within the Greek System. Click here for a PDF of the article.

This year Greek IMPACT served as the lead in mobilizing Greek students at Carolina to help serve others this holiday season. We charged the Greeks to make Christmas Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child – a ministry aimed at providing Christmas presents to children in impoverished countries around the world – and students responded.

Greek IMPACT served hot chocolate and cookies to fraternity and sorority students outisde the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and collected 225 shoeboxes and over $1,300 to help cover the cost of shipping the boxes across the globe. With an average shoebox costing $10 to make, we estimate that the Greek system raised over $3,000 for Operation Christmas Child this year.
